چکیده

Central limit theorems are obtained for the PARMSR (perturbation analysis Robbins-Monro single run) algorithm with averaging, updated either after every regenerative cycle or after every xed-length observation period, for one-dependent regenerative processes. These stochastic approximation algorithms with averaging turn out to have identical limiting behavior, i.e., the same convergence rate and the same limit covariance matrix, when the convergence is expressed in terms of the total observation time of the system (or the total computing budget in the case of a simulation). Under certain assumptions, these algorithms are asymptotically eecient, in the sense that both their convergence rate and limit covariance are optimal. The strong convergence rate of the usual PARMSR algorithm updated after every xed length observation period is established using a limit theorem on double array martingales. This is the key step for obtaining the asymptotic eeciency of the algorithms with averaging and has interest in its own right.

Accelerated randomized stochastic optimization1

We propose a general class of randomized gradient estimates to be employed in the recursive search of the minimum of an unknown multivariate regression function. Here only two observations per iteration step are used. As special cases it includes random direction stochastic approximation (Kushner and Clark), simultaneous perturbation stochastic approximation (Spall) and a special kernel based s...

Stochastic averaging for SDEs with Hopf Drift and polynomial diffusion coefficients

It is known that a stochastic differential equation (SDE) induces two probabilistic objects, namely a difusion process and a stochastic flow. While the diffusion process is determined by the innitesimal mean and variance given by the coefficients of the SDE, this is not the case for the stochastic flow induced by the SDE. In order to characterize the stochastic flow uniquely the innitesimal cov...

Iterate-averaging sign algorithms for adaptive filtering with applications to blind multiuser detection

Motivated by the recent developments on iterate averaging of recursive stochastic approximation algorithms and asymptotic analysis of sign-error algorithms for adaptive filtering, this work develops two-stage sign algorithms for adaptive filtering. The proposed algorithms are based on constructions of a sequence of estimates using large step sizes followed by iterate averaging. Our main effort ...

Adaptive stochastic approximation by the simultaneous perturbation method

Stochastic approximation (SA) has long been applied for problems of minimizing loss functions or root finding with noisy input information. As with all stochastic search algorithms, there are adjustable algorithm coefficients that must be specified, and that can have a profound effect on algorithm performance. It is known that choosing these coefficients according to an SA analog of the determi...

Pull-in behavior analysis of vibrating functionally graded micro-cantilevers under suddenly DC voltage

The present research attempts to explain dynamic pull-in instability of functionally graded micro-cantilevers actuated by step DC voltage while the fringing-field effect is taken into account in the vibrational equation of motion. By employing modern asymptotic approach namely Homotopy Perturbation Method with an auxiliary term, high-order frequency-amplitude relation is obtained, then the infl...
